1. Spain

Fully vaccinated travellers can now arrive in Spain without taking a PCR test. Make sure to take your vaccination certificate with you and also fill out the Spanish Health Pass before travel.

Visiting in spring has to be the ideal time to explore Spain. Streets are less-crowded, but air and water temperatures begin to rise. Much of the country reaches low-mid 20s, making for comfortable exploring.

Where should I go in Spain? Seville should be on top of your list, with two of its biggest events happening this season (Holy Week 10-17 April and the Seville Fair, which takes place two weeks later). Alternatively, travellers could head for the Balearic islands for some of the most picturesque and pleasant hikes and cycling routes in the Mediterranean.

2. Malta

To visit Malta, fully-vaccinated travellers simply have to present their NHS Covid Travel Pass to enter. Do note, unvaccinated travellers cannot travel here at all.

Spring in Malta is known as the ‘prettiest’ time of year. There are no guesses for why. The small island's spectacular flora begins bloom, and the local's favourite fruit and vegetables come into season, bringing the farmer's markets to life after winter.

Where should I go in Malta? Many people make the mistake of thinking Malta can be competed in a couple of days. Although it is easy to get around by car, there is so much to do in each town or city, and is worth at least a week of your time. Head to the capital of Valetta for historic exploring. Or perhaps St Julian’s with its laid-back vibe is more your bag, with its fantastic restaurants and bars. Don’t forget to take a boat trip to the magical blue lagoon on Comino island, too.

3. France

From 12 February, fully-vaccinated travellers do not need to present a COVID-19 test when travelling to France. Although, it’s best to be aware, many venues will only let in those who have had a booster jab, with UK visitors advised to convert their vaccination certificates into a European QR code.

France in spring is a delight. Again, the earlier time means less areas overcrowded with tourism. There’s also the chance to spot blossom in places such as Lyon and Bordeaux.

Where should I go in France? Cyclists should head to Loire Valley for the 900km La Loire à Vélo trail, the best way to discover the hidden gems of the region. Pedal through gorgeous, revitalised green countryside from castle to castle, taking in vineyards and river banks as you go. Or perhaps you’d prefer to visit the iconic Mont St Michael in Normandy – the iconic tidal island is often quieter in spring.

4.  Croatia

It’s easy to visit Croatia if you’re fully vaccinated. Simply show your COVID travel pass and you’re in, no testing required. But do make sure you have had your last jab no more than 270 prior to travel.

Explorers will love to visit in April. This is an ideal time of year for an active break in Croatia, as the temperature is neither too hot or too cold, it’s just right (as Goldilocks would say).

Where should I go in Croatia? Head to the capital of Zagreb for more of an authentic side to the country. The Uppertown (the old town) has cobbled streets, cafes with outdoor seating, the local farmer’s market, the Museum of Broken Relationships and the cathedral. Beyond the capital, explore the natural side to Croatia at one of its National Parks, such as Plitvice and Krka. Or if a piece of paradise is what you’re looking for, try island hopping around the Dalmatian coast for the finest clear, sparkling seas.

March and April are a great time for visiting Costa Rica, as the weather is at its driest. However do consider visiting from May onwards, when the seasons begin to shift. There may be more downpours, but the country is generally quieter during the green season.

Where should I go in Costa Rica? The country is famous for its wondrous wildlife, from howler monkeys and hummingbirds. In the north-west the dry forests of Guanacaste are a UNESCO World Heritage site. 6. United Arab Emirates

The UAE have recently lifted their requirement for fully-vaccinated arrivals to take a PCR test before travel. From 26 February, arrivals will only need to show proof of vaccination or proof of recovery from COVID-19.

The temperatures during March and April are pretty hot reaching up to 31 degrees Celsius. There is no rainy season in the UAE, but spring is the last chance for travellers to visit before the scorching season begins from May. Many residents leave the country if they can during the summer.

Where should I go in the UAE? When thinking of the Emirates, most people’s thoughts drift to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with visions of skyscrapers and world’s most impressive malls. Beyond the cities there is a much more varied landscape. Take Ras Al Khaimah, for example. Around an hour's drive away from Dubai airport, this region boasts mountains, deserts, and pristine coastline. The Emirate has been up-and-coming since an influx of domestic travel during the pandemic brought more investment, therefore more awareness of this spectacular natural region.

Where should I go in Mexico? Go beyond the white-sand beaches and explore the historical Mayan Ruins in Chichen Itza, dating back more than 1,500 years. Train lovers can take the iconic Copper Canyon Railway travelling from Los Mochis to Chihuahua. And of course, foodies will also love Mexico, with a superb array of restaurants across the country serving favourites such as chilaquiles, enchiladas and tacos.

Where should I go in Colombia? On the Caribbean coast is Cartagena, one of the most popular spots not just in Colombia but South America. And for good reason. It has brightly coloured architecture, impressive street art and connections to ancient UNESCO-listed sites. The city comes alive at night with dancing and music – time to get your salsa shoes on!

Spring in Sri Lanka is hot and dry, with March marking the end of the monsoon season, making it an ideal time to visit for beach-goers.

Where should I go in Sri Lanka? Those who would must take the iconic Kandy to Ella train journey.
