Remembering Bears: 10 beautiful photographs

The charity photobook series Remembering Wildlife has returned with its latest release, Remembering Bears.

Inside the book are 88 breathtaking visuals of bears from around the world. The eight species included are American black bear, Andean bear, Asiatic black bear, brown bear, giant panda, polar bear, sloth bear and sun bear. 

All sales from the book will go towards the protection of wild bears, with six out of eight species classed as vulnerable or endangered by the International Union of Conservation for Nature (IUCN)

Founder of Remembering Wildlife Margot Raggett said: “Humans have long had a special relationship with bears – we hug them at night as children and love seeing them in story books and on screen. Yet, in the real world, they’re not always viewed with the same affection and can been seen as a nuisance or a threat.

“Some face lives of misery – as dancing bears, illegally trafficked as pets or used for medicine – or face serious threats and extinction through climate change, hunting or human-wildlife conflict.

“Through images and words, this book shines a spotlight on their diversity, beauty and resilience as well as raising awareness of their plight and raising funds for organisations passionately fighting for the future of bears.”

The images were generously donated by some of the world's best wildlife photographers, such as Marsel van Oosten, Art Wolfe, Frans Lanting, Greg du Toit, and Daisy Gilardini. Comedian, actor and animal rights activist Ricky Gervais also contributed to the book, writing the back cover where he says tells us to 'stand up for bears or lose them forever.

To date, Remembering Wildlife has raised more than £952,500 for 58 conservation projects across the world. By purchasing Remembering Bears, you can help to support these fantastic initatives.
